Kleinsky’s restaurant was opened in 2014 by brothers Adam & Joel Klein, Kleinsky’s blends traditional recipes with the best local ingredients to bring a slice of New York to Cape Town. Enter and you’ll be instantly taken to a busy restaurant in New York, complete with the smells of freshly made bread and the happy conversation of both locals and tourists.
Local artists’ artwork adorns the walls, giving the New York atmosphere a hint of South African flair. Their Sea Point store also serves as a gallery space for local artists. However, the food is the true star of the show. Kleinsky’s takes pleasure in crafting their trademark dishes with the best local ingredients and time-honored methods.
Their bagels are the ideal combination of chewy and crunchy since they are hand-rolled and slow-fermented. In-house brined and smoked pastrami is served atop rye toast with crisp pickles and tart mustard.
All of their bread & pastries are baked in-store using traditional recipes & methods. Their bagels are hand-rolled, slow-fermented overnight & boiled in malted water before baking. Their pastrami is made with beef brisket, brined then coated in a house blend spice rub & smoked for several hours before serving.
