Burger Bistro is a concept started by Corné Read and Jan-Hendrik van Staden—two guys who love burgers and have too much time on their hands. They opened the first restaurant on Pierneef Street in Villieria (Against their mothers’ advice) on June 1, 2012.
Now, Burger Bistro is a popular fast-food restaurant chain with branches located throughout South Africa. With its inviting and relaxed atmosphere, Burger Bistro provides a welcoming dining experience for customers of all ages. Each unit offers a comfortable setting to enjoy its delicious burgers.
The idea was simple… Fresh ingredients, homemade patties, hand-cut chips, bad-ass milkshakes, and good music. Craft beer also helped a bit. Word spread, and soon, this little restaurant on the other side of town was bursting at its seams, with people driving far and wide to sample these delicious burgers.
The only option they had was to expand. One thing is sure, though: no matter how big they get, they’ll never forget why they’re in this business… To make the best damn burgers in the world!
The menu offers inventive items like the Cali Reuben Burger, created with pastrami, Swiss cheese, Thousand Island dressing on rye toast, and traditional favorites like fresh-ground beef and turkey. They serve salads, sandwiches, onion rings, french fries, milkshakes, and burgers.

All burgers are made from 100% ground beef, flame-grilled and served on a sesame bun with fresh lettuce, tomato, and bistro mayo. Patties are grilled medium-well; medium-rare available on request.
